Carbon construction and tubeless design

We build the Bontrager Aeolus Pro 37 with our proprietary OCLV Carbon layup, a manufacturing process that optimizes every fiber layer for maximum strength and minimum weight. The hookless bead design provides a more secure tire interface and allows us to reduce sidewall weight without sacrificing impact resistance.

Our tubeless-ready rim bed comes pre-taped from the factory, so you can mount your favorite tubeless tires immediately. The 23mm internal width is the sweet spot for modern tire performance — wide enough for larger gravel rubber yet narrow enough to maintain aero efficiency with 25-28mm road clinchers. Whether you’re racing on pavement or exploring mixed surfaces across our complete wheel lineup, the Aeolus Pro 37 adapts to your riding style.

Hub technology and drivetrain compatibility
Sizing & fit

Hub technology and drivetrain compatibility

Every Aeolus Pro 37 wheelset features DT Swiss 350 hubs with their proven Ratchet EXP system. The 36-tooth engagement provides 10-degree pickup — fast enough for technical climbing and sprinting without the excessive drag of higher-engagement designs. Sealed cartridge bearings keep contamination out during wet rides and simplify long-term maintenance.

We include both Shimano HG and SRAM XDR freehub bodies with each wheelset, so you can swap between groupsets without buying additional components. The Centerlock disc brake interface ensures precise rotor alignment and tool-free installation when you’re swapping wheels at the trailhead or race venue. Quick-release end caps are included for older frame standards, though the hubs are optimized for 12mm thru-axle systems.

Styling

Tire compatibility and setup recommendations

The 23mm internal width of the Aeolus Pro 37 provides exceptional versatility across tire sizes. For road racing, we recommend 25-28mm tubeless tires at 65-75 PSI for the ideal balance of rolling resistance and comfort. Endurance riders often run 28-32mm rubber at 50-60 PSI for all-day comfort on mixed pavement.

Gravel applications work beautifully with 38-50mm tires at 30-40 PSI, depending on rider weight and terrain. The hookless bead design is certified for tire pressures up to 72 PSI with approved tubeless tires — check our compatibility chart on the product packaging for specific tire model recommendations. Our tubeless rim tape and 44mm valves are included, and we strongly recommend using a tubeless sealant rated for road and gravel applications.

Perfect all-road wheelset for mixed riding
I bought the Aeolus Pro 37 for gravel racing but ended up using them for everything. They're fast enough for group rides, stable in crosswinds, and absolutely bomb-proof on chunky gravel. The tubeless setup was painless, and I love being able to swap between 28mm road slicks and 42mm gravel tires on the same wheelset.

Noticeable aero gains without the harsh ride
These wheels transformed my endurance bike. I'm seeing 1-2 mph higher average speeds on my regular routes without any additional effort. The 37mm depth is the sweet spot — deep enough for real aero benefits but not so deep that they feel sketchy in wind or beat me up on rough pavement.

Best upgrade I've made to my bike
Coming from stock aluminum wheels, the Aeolus Pro 37 wheelset is a revelation. They accelerate faster, hold speed better on rollers, and the wider rim actually makes my 28mm tires feel more planted in corners. The DT Swiss hubs are silky smooth and the engagement is perfect for punchy climbs.

Excellent build quality and versatility
I've put about 2,000 miles on these wheels across road, gravel, and cyclocross races. They've stayed true despite some hard hits, and the tubeless system holds air for weeks between top-ups. My only minor complaint is the freehub sound is quieter than I expected, but that's a personal preference thing.

Finally a wheelset that does it all
I was tired of swapping wheels between my road and gravel bikes, so I bought two sets of Aeolus Pro 37s. Now I run 28mm road tires on one bike and 42mm gravel tires on the other, and the performance is fantastic on both. The 23mm internal width really does work perfectly across that entire tire range.

Race-proven performance at a fair price
I raced these wheels at three criteriums and two gravel events this season. They're stiff enough for hard sprints, light enough for climbing, and the aero profile makes a real difference when you're chasing back on after a split. For the money, you're getting performance that rivals wheels costing significantly more.

Good to know

Bontrager Aeolus Pro 37 wheelset questions

The 23mm internal width of the Aeolus Pro 37 accommodates tires from 25mm to 50mm. For road riding, we recommend 25-32mm tires for optimal aerodynamics and comfort. Gravel and mixed-surface riding works beautifully with 38-50mm tires.

The hookless bead design is certified for tubeless tire pressures up to 72 PSI with compatible tires. Always verify your specific tire model is approved for hookless rims before installation.

No, the Bontrager Aeolus Pro 37 is designed exclusively for disc brake systems with Centerlock rotor mounting. The carbon rim construction and tubeless hookless bead design are optimized for disc brake applications only.

If you need a rim brake wheelset, we recommend exploring our Paradigm series, which offers similar performance characteristics with traditional brake track surfaces.

The 37mm depth provides an excellent balance between aerodynamic efficiency and crosswind stability. We've tested the Aeolus Pro 37 extensively in wind tunnel conditions at yaw angles up to 20 degrees, and the wheelset demonstrates predictable handling characteristics even in gusty conditions.

Most riders find 37mm manageable in all but the strongest crosswinds. If you frequently ride in extremely windy conditions or are a lighter rider concerned about handling, you may prefer our shallower Aeolus Elite 35 wheelset.

Every Aeolus Pro 37 wheelset includes both Shimano HG and SRAM XDR freehub bodies in the box. The DT Swiss 350 hubs also accept Campagnolo and microspline freehub bodies, which are available separately through our dealer network.

Swapping freehub bodies takes about five minutes with basic tools and doesn't require any hub disassembly or bearing adjustment.

Absolutely. The Aeolus Pro 37 is one of our most popular gravel racing wheelsets because of its versatility and durability. The OCLV Carbon layup withstands gravel impacts exceptionally well, and the 23mm internal width provides excellent support for wider gravel tires in the 38-50mm range.

Many gravel racers run these wheels with 40-42mm tires at 35-40 PSI for fast, technical courses. The tubeless-ready design gives you the flexibility to dial in tire pressure based on terrain and weather conditions.

The DT Swiss 350 hubs use sealed cartridge bearings that typically require service every 8,000-10,000 miles depending on riding conditions. We recommend annual bearing inspection for most riders, with more frequent service if you ride in wet or muddy conditions regularly.

The Ratchet EXP freehub mechanism is extremely low-maintenance and only needs occasional cleaning and light greasing. The carbon rim structure requires no special maintenance beyond normal cleaning and periodic brake rotor inspection for proper alignment.

Yes, you can absolutely run the Aeolus Pro 37 wheels with traditional inner tubes and clincher tires. Simply remove the tubeless valves and install standard tubes with your preferred tires. The hookless rim design works perfectly with both tubeless and traditional tube setups.

However, we strongly recommend taking advantage of the tubeless-ready design. Tubeless tires offer better puncture resistance, lower rolling resistance, and improved ride quality compared to tube-type setups at equivalent pressures.
