Bontrager Circuit Road Cycling Shoe
We built the Bontrager Circuit road cycling shoe for riders who demand podium-level performance without the premium price tag. The Circuit features a carbon-reinforced nylon sole that delivers exceptional stiffness for efficient power transfer on every pedal stroke, while the dual BOA® L6 dial system provides micro-adjustable closure that stays locked in during hard efforts.
Our anatomical last design follows the natural contours of your foot to eliminate hot spots and pressure points on long rides. The engineered mesh upper balances breathability with structural support where you need it most, and the inForm Pro footbed offers customizable arch support for all-day comfort whether you’re racing or logging training miles.

Construction & Sole Technology
The Circuit’s carbon-reinforced nylon sole strikes the perfect balance between stiffness and weight, achieving a stiffness index of 8 that rivals shoes at twice the price. We engineered the sole with strategic carbon fiber layup in high-stress zones beneath the cleat mounting area, ensuring every watt you generate reaches the pedals without flex loss.
The three-bolt cleat pattern accommodates all major road pedal systems including Shimano SPD-SL, Look Kéo, and Time. Replaceable heel pads protect the sole during café stops and extend the life of your investment, while the low-profile tread pattern keeps weight minimal without sacrificing walkability when you’re off the bike.

BOA® Fit System Performance
We chose the BOA® L6 dial system for the Circuit because it delivers tool-free micro-adjustability that stays locked under power. The dual-dial configuration independently controls forefoot and midfoot tension, allowing you to dial in precise fit across your entire foot.
On-the-Fly Adjustment
Each click of the dial provides 1mm of adjustment, so you can fine-tune fit during warmup or open tension slightly on climbs when your feet swell. The quick-release pull mechanism lets you exit the shoe instantly after crossing the finish line, and the durable steel-coated laces resist abrasion from thousands of adjustment cycles.
Sizing & Fit Guide
The Circuit follows our race-oriented anatomical last that runs true to size for most riders. We designed the toe box with a medium-width profile that accommodates average to slightly wide feet without excess volume that causes slippage.
If you’re between sizes or have wider feet, we recommend sizing up and using the included inForm Pro footbed spacers to customize arch height and volume. The BOA® system provides enough adjustment range to secure a precise fit across a half-size variance. Our complete cycling shoe collection includes wider-fit options if you need additional toe box room beyond what the Circuit offers.

Questions About the Circuit Road Shoe
The Circuit follows our race-oriented anatomical last that runs true to size for most riders. The medium-width toe box fits slightly wider than Shimano but narrower than Specialized. If you wear a size 44 in Giro or Sidi road shoes, order a 44 in the Circuit.
We include spacers with the inForm Pro footbed to customize arch height and volume if you’re between sizes. The BOA system provides enough adjustment range to accommodate a half-size variance in either direction.
The Circuit achieves a stiffness index of 8 on our 0-14 scale, where 0 is a walking shoe and 14 is a pure track sprint shoe. This rating delivers excellent power transfer for racing and hard training efforts while retaining enough compliance for all-day comfort on gran fondos and centuries.
The carbon-reinforced nylon composite construction places carbon fiber strategically in high-stress zones beneath the cleat area, giving you performance comparable to full carbon soles at significantly lower weight and cost.
Yes, the Circuit uses the standard three-bolt road cleat mounting pattern that accommodates all major systems including Shimano SPD-SL, Look Kéo, Time, and Speedplay. The sole includes embossed alignment guides to help position cleats correctly for optimal biomechanics.
We provide mounting hardware with the shoes, and the cleat mounting area accepts bolts up to 8mm in length. Apply threadlocker to cleat bolts and torque to 5-6 Nm to prevent loosening during rides.
The BOA L6 system is largely maintenance-free, but periodically inspect the steel-coated laces for fraying at high-friction contact points. Clean dirt and debris from the dial mechanisms after muddy rides by rinsing with clean water and allowing to air-dry completely.
Avoid forcing the dials past their end-of-travel stops, which can damage internal components. If a dial stops clicking smoothly or the quick-release fails, contact your Bontrager dealer for warranty service. BOA covers their components with a lifetime guarantee against defects.
Absolutely—the Circuit excels on indoor trainers thanks to the ventilated mesh upper that manages heat buildup during high-intensity intervals. The stiff sole provides excellent power transfer for structured workouts, and the BOA dials let you adjust fit as your feet warm up during longer sessions.
The three-bolt cleat pattern works with most smart trainer pedal systems. Some riders prefer to keep a dedicated pair of shoes for indoor use to extend the life of their primary outdoor shoes and avoid tracking sweat into expensive materials.
Each pair includes the Circuit shoes with pre-installed BOA L6 dials and steel-coated laces, inForm Pro footbeds with customizable arch support spacers, cleat mounting bolts, and a user guide covering fit adjustment and care instructions.
Cleats are sold separately to allow you to choose your preferred pedal system. We recommend purchasing Bontrager-branded cleats or OEM cleats from your pedal manufacturer for guaranteed compatibility and proper float adjustment.
The Circuit features a pre-shaped anatomical last that conforms to most foot shapes without heat molding. The engineered mesh upper naturally adapts to your foot contours during the first few rides as the materials break in.
For riders requiring more customization, the included inForm Pro footbed can be heat-molded at authorized Bontrager dealers using our footbed oven. This process takes about 20 minutes and creates a custom arch profile matched to your unique foot shape, improving comfort and power transfer for riders with high or low arches.
