Bontrager Line Carbon 30 Wheelset
Our Line Carbon 30 wheelset brings race-proven enduro performance to your trail bike with a 30mm internal rim width optimized for aggressive all-mountain riding. Carbon construction delivers the strength needed for rowdy descents while keeping rotational weight low for efficient climbing.
We engineered these wheels around our proven Rapid Drive 54-tooth freehub system for instant engagement when you need power on technical climbs. The asymmetric rim design balances spoke tension for improved durability, while tubeless-ready compatibility lets you run lower pressures for better traction without pinch-flat worries.
Line Carbon 30 specifications

Carbon Construction & Rim Design
We built the Bontrager Line Carbon 30 rim using our proven carbon layup that balances impact resistance with weight savings. The 30mm internal width provides the ideal tire support for modern 2.3-2.6″ trail tires, allowing the casing to form an optimal profile that maximizes cornering traction and ride feel.
Our asymmetric rim design positions spoke holes strategically to balance tension across all spokes, reducing the stress on individual spokes and extending wheel life. This design also allows us to build a stronger, more responsive wheel without adding unnecessary weight. The hookless bead design pairs perfectly with tubeless setups, creating a secure interface that holds tires reliably at lower pressures.

Rapid Drive Hub Technology
Instant Engagement
Our Rapid Drive rear hub features 54 points of engagement, delivering power transfer every 6.7 degrees of crank rotation. This near-instant engagement proves critical on technical climbs where maintaining momentum through rock gardens and root sections requires immediate pedal response.
The star-ratchet system inside uses hardened steel teeth that engage simultaneously across the entire circumference, distributing loads evenly and providing reliability that outlasts traditional pawl systems. Tool-free maintenance allows you to service the hub mechanism without special equipment.
Tubeless Setup & Tire Compatibility
Every Line Carbon 30 wheelset ships tubeless-ready with our TLR rim strip factory-installed and tubeless valves included. The hookless rim profile creates a secure bead lock with tubeless tires, allowing you to run pressures as low as 18-22 PSI for maximum traction without risking burping or unseating.
We recommend pairing these wheels with 2.3-2.6″ trail or enduro tires for optimal performance. The 30mm internal width supports these tire sizes perfectly, preventing the tire from folding in hard corners while maintaining a rounded profile that rolls efficiently. Wider 2.6″ tires provide maximum grip and cushioning for demanding terrain, while 2.3-2.5″ options reduce weight for climbing-focused riding.

Line Carbon 30 Wheelset Questions
We designed the 30mm internal rim width specifically for 2.3-2.6″ trail and enduro tires. This range provides optimal tire profile and support.
Tires narrower than 2.3″ will create a light-bulb profile that reduces cornering traction, while tires wider than 2.6″ may not seat properly on the bead. For riders wanting to run 2.8″ or wider tires, our Line Elite 35 wheelset with 35mm internal width is the better choice.
Yes, we offer driver body conversions for both Shimano HG freehub and microspline systems. These are available separately and install tool-free in minutes.
The XD driver pulls straight off the hub body and replacement drivers slide on with the same simple installation. If you’re running Shimano 12-speed drivetrains, the microspline driver is required for proper cassette compatibility.
Both sizes share identical rim construction, hub design, and 30mm internal width. The 27.5″ wheels weigh 1,770g while 29″ wheels come in at 1,820g.
The smaller 27.5″ diameter offers quicker acceleration and easier maneuverability in tight switchbacks and technical terrain. The 29″ option rolls over obstacles more smoothly and maintains momentum better on fast, open trails. Choose based on your frame compatibility and riding style preference.
We recommend inspecting and re-greasing the Rapid Drive mechanism every 100-150 riding hours or annually, whichever comes first. The star-ratchet system requires minimal maintenance compared to pawl designs.
You can service it yourself without special tools in about 15 minutes. Remove the axle, pull the freehub body, clean the existing grease from the ratchet rings, and apply fresh grease before reassembly. Our service videos walk through the complete process.
The Bontrager Line Carbon 30 wheelset includes our comprehensive 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects and material failures. This covers rim damage from normal trail riding impacts.
The warranty does not cover damage from crashes, impacts with foreign objects like logs or large rocks that would damage any wheel, or improper installation. We also warranty the hub mechanisms for 2 years against mechanical failure under normal use.
While the Line Carbon 30 is optimized for tubeless use, you can absolutely run tubes if preferred. The rim strip is already installed, so you simply need to add a tube and tire.
However, you’ll miss out on the performance benefits of tubeless including lower rolling resistance, better traction from reduced tire pressure, and puncture protection from sealant. The hookless rim design and included tubeless hardware make tubeless setup straightforward.
We rate the Line Carbon 30 wheelset for riders up to 250 lbs fully equipped with gear, hydration, and tools. This rating applies to aggressive trail and enduro riding.
Heavier riders or those doing frequent bike park laps with large drops may want to consider our Line Elite wheelset with reinforced spoke count and heavier-duty construction. Proper spoke tension maintenance and avoiding impacts with sharp-edged obstacles will maximize wheel longevity for all riders.
