Bontrager Circuit WaveCel Helmet
We engineered the Bontrager Circuit WaveCel helmet for riders who demand the highest level of protection without sacrificing comfort or style. This award-winning road helmet features our exclusive WaveCel technology—a collapsible cellular structure that protects against rotational and direct impact forces more effectively than traditional foam alone.
The Circuit combines superior ventilation with aerodynamic efficiency. Twenty strategically placed vents channel air through the helmet while our Blendr mount system integrates seamlessly with lights and cameras. Whether you’re training for your next race or commuting through the city, this helmet keeps you cool, protected, and visible on every ride.
Protection & Performance Details

WaveCel Technology & Safety Performance
The bontrager circuit wavecel helmet features a revolutionary approach to head protection that goes beyond conventional helmet design. WaveCel is a collapsible cellular structure that lines the interior of the helmet, flexing and crumpling on impact to redirect forces away from your head.
Our technology addresses both rotational and linear forces—the two primary causes of brain injuries in cycling accidents. Independent testing by Virginia Tech and the IIHS awarded the Circuit a top safety rating, recognizing its superior impact protection across multiple test scenarios. The WaveCel layer works in harmony with the EPS foam liner to absorb different types of impacts while maintaining excellent ventilation throughout the structure.

Ventilation & Aerodynamic Design
We designed the Circuit with 20 external vents that feed into internal air channels, creating a continuous flow of cooling air across your head. The exhaust ports at the rear pull hot air out while maintaining the helmet’s aerodynamic profile.
Our engineers spent hundreds of hours in the wind tunnel optimizing the Circuit’s shape to minimize drag without compromising ventilation. The result is a helmet that performs exceptionally well on fast descents and long climbs alike. The internal channeling system routes air between the WaveCel layer and your head, preventing the common issue of overheating during intense efforts while keeping the helmet stable at high speeds.
Fit System & Comfort Features
Boa Adjustment System
The Circuit uses our proven Boa FS360 fit system with a single dial at the rear that adjusts both circumference and height. The 360-degree retention band conforms to your head shape for a secure, pressure-free fit that stays comfortable on rides lasting hours.
Fidlock Magnetic Buckle
We equipped this helmet with a Fidlock magnetic buckle that snaps together effortlessly with one hand. The magnetic connection is strong enough for safety yet releases instantly when you pull the tab. This feature proves especially valuable when wearing gloves or making quick stops during your ride.

Circuit WaveCel Helmet Questions
WaveCel and MIPS both address rotational forces, but they use different mechanisms. MIPS features a slip plane that allows the helmet to rotate slightly on impact, while WaveCel is a collapsible cellular structure that flexes, glides, and crumples to absorb both rotational and linear forces.
Independent testing by Virginia Tech found that WaveCel helmets like the bontrager circuit wavecel helmet scored higher in overall protection across multiple impact scenarios. WaveCel covers more of the helmet’s interior surface, providing protection from various impact angles rather than focusing primarily on rotational forces.
Measure the circumference of your head about one inch above your eyebrows using a flexible tape measure. Small fits 51-57cm, Medium fits 54-60cm, and Large fits 58-63cm. If you’re between sizes, we recommend sizing up for comfort.
The Boa FS360 system provides significant adjustability within each size range. When properly fitted, the helmet should sit level on your head with the front edge about one inch above your eyebrows. The retention system should feel snug but not create pressure points during extended rides.
Yes, the Circuit excels as both a performance road helmet and a daily commuter option. The removable visor works well for casual riding, while the integrated Blendr mounts make it easy to add lights for visibility during urban commutes.
The Circuit meets all safety certifications for on-road cycling including CPSC and CE EN1078 standards. Many of our customers use it as their primary helmet for training rides, racing, and commuting because it delivers professional-level protection and features in one versatile package.
Remove all helmet pads by gently pulling them away from the Velcro attachment points. Hand wash the pads in cool water with mild soap, then air dry completely before reattaching them.
Clean the helmet shell with a damp cloth and mild soap—avoid harsh chemicals or solvents that can degrade the materials. Never put the helmet in a washing machine or dryer. Inspect the WaveCel structure regularly for any crushing or damage, and replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact even if no visible damage appears.
The Circuit’s integrated Blendr mount accepts all Bontrager Blendr-compatible lights and camera mounts. Our Ion lights snap directly into the mount points without tools or adhesive, and the system accommodates both front-facing lights and rear-facing cameras.
You can mount multiple accessories simultaneously using the various mounting points positioned around the helmet. The electrical pass-through channels keep wiring organized if you choose to connect accessories. Third-party GoPro-style cameras can also attach using our universal Blendr camera mount adapter.
Yes, we offer crash replacement coverage for the first year after purchase. If you’re involved in an accident where the helmet sustains an impact, contact our customer service with proof of purchase and photos of the damage.
We’ll provide a discount code for 50% off a replacement Circuit helmet. This policy recognizes that helmets are designed for single-impact protection—any crash that involves head contact means the helmet has done its job and should be replaced to ensure continued safety in future rides.
The Circuit features one of the most effective ventilation systems in our road helmet lineup. Twenty external vents feed into internal air channels that run through the WaveCel structure, creating continuous airflow across your head.
The strategic placement of intake vents at the front and exhaust ports at the rear generates a cooling effect even at moderate speeds. Many riders in hot climates report that the Circuit stays noticeably cooler than standard helmets during summer training rides and long events in high temperatures.
